Histoire :

Ce Diorama est inspiré de la seule preuve de l’existence de La Baie du Roi, une vieille photographie en noir et blanc perdue aujourd'hui, dont on date la prise aux alentours des années 1970. L’angle de vue de la photo ne laisse aucun doute quant au fait qu’elle a été prise depuis un avion. Elle a été développée après qu'un globe-trotter a retrouvé la pellicule miraculeusement intacte, encore chargée dans son appareil Zeiss Ikon Contax, dans un marché de Jakarta en 1986. On peut distinguer sur l'oeuvre l'épave d'un U-Boat qui pourrait être celui du U-196. Néanmoins, l'élément le plus mystérieux à ce jour reste la présence d'une structure ou d'un récif d'origine inconnue. L’hypothèse la plus probable est que La Baie du Roi était située dans l’océan indien et qu’elle fut engloutie lors du tsunami de 1992.

 

This diorama was inspired by the only proof of the existence of the La Baie du Roi, an old black and white photograph taken in the 70’s, that has since been lost. The viewing angle clearly indicates that it was taken from an airplane. The picture was developped after a globe-trotter miraculously found the film roll intact and still loaded in the Zeiss Ikon Contax camera in a market in Jakarta in 1986.

The diorama shows the wreck of an U-boat which could be the U-196. The most mysterious element is the presence of a structure or reef of an unknown origin. The most probable hypothesis is that the La Baie du Roi was located in the Indian Ocean and that the 1992 tsunami engulfed it.
